I have installed a RedHat 7.0 on an inherrited
comp, as i intend to change everything i have at home into linux. hmm,
yes, getting B.Gates sick...
I'm brand new to linux, and i have to learn A LOT
about Linus Torvalds world changing OS. Also about RedHat and X86config in
specific.
I'm trying hard to find every item throuhg the
internet, on websites like these, at RedHat itself, and who knows
where else i can find stuff 'bout it... ?
But for now as i installed R H 7.0 i have a problem
starting X.
The problem is completely situated at the
monitor. The video card is configured ok, (i guess) as it was listed
in the setup config screen. the mouse and every other possible device is working
fine as i receive everything in OK's except for a network card (eth0), but
that's not the point now. (something for later maybe??).
The monitor's company does not give me any
specifications on resolution, colors, or whatever necessary (like Hsync,
Vsync...., Memory...) its a monitor 14" and i only want to see xwindows in a
normal situation, I believe my vid card supports the monitor, as this card
is certainly newer then the monitor, (diamond multimedia stealth 2500
>supported type by X86confg). I was unable to find any default or
standard monitor type as i used the expert mode to install R H
7.0...
this is what i get when i try to run
startx
