I suspected so much. The problem is that after 2 weeks (or more) I am
unable to build/locate a suitable modeline for the LCD.

Does anybody have a good one or knows how to write one ?
Alternatively is there a HOWTO (or similar) other than
XFree86-Video-Timings-HOWTO ? Or some examples for LCD's ?
