Uh, what exactly do you mean by "unstable"?  Does it tip over and fall
down?  Vibrate when trucks drive by?

Look in /var/log/XFree86.0.log and find out what mode it's using.  If
the mode it's using is not what the flat panel wants, put a hint in
/etc/X11/XF86Config to get what you want.  "man XF86Config".
