Hi, All Need help, I'm trying to run X 4.2.0. startx causes my linux box to hang:
1) xterm is displayed, after it the system does not react to keyboard/mouse 2) I can still login to the machine remotely, but killing X does not change anything. So the only thing i can do is reboot. I have notorious ATI Rage card (Mach64 chipset). I'm running 2.4.17 kernel. Kernel APM support is disabled, DRI enabled for ATI card, agp support included. I've attached XF86Config and XFree86.0.log contents (Speedo complaint doesn't have to do anything with the problem). PLEASE help me, if you know anything about the prob. Also if you have the same config (2.4.17+ATI Rage Mach64+X4.2.0) up and running I'd be happy to have a look at your XF86Config and kernel .config.
