BioChem33, I have a similar problem, take a
look at it:
Trying to resolve now with not very good
future.
Cheers.

Subject: [Newbie]A few minor issues module) on an AMD Athlon 700Mhz with an ATI Radeon 7200 64MB AGP. I've noticed a few instances where there are screen artifacts, that is, there are parts of the screen that don't get updated correctly. Using the GIMP bezier selection tool, while dragging a line or curve, it leaves several intermittent black lines on the image that can only be gotten rid of by hiding/un-hiding or resizing the window. A similar problem occurs if I try to use the enlightenment window manager, when using animated iconification; intermittent black and white lines are left on screen where the animation moved through. Additionally, when moving windows, with any window manager (I've tried several, currently using Sawfish), the window's intermediate positions are often still visible for a few moments creating an effect similar to the MS Windows "mouse trails" with my windows. This is most noticeable when moving the window over the canvas of another window. Using gkrellm (GNU Krell Monitors), I've noticed that my CPU usage can go as high as 100% when simply moving a window, so I'm figuring the video card isn't doing its part for some reason. I've triple-checked that I have all the (X and kernel) modules required for DRI loaded, and the logs don't show any X-related errors. I've still got win98se on another partition, and aside from the chronic blue screens and GPFs, it shows no problems updating the screen (with the same resolution, 1280*1024*24bpp). My biggest concern is, I don't know where the problem is. For all I know it could be a driver limitation or a kernel problem (2.4.18-6mdk... perhaps Mdk's kernel hacking has introduced a bug). Then again it could be a limitation in the applications used; perhaps they don't take advantage of new features and/or fixes in X (I assume this isn't standard for the current X server), although moving the X cursor (HW, not SW) causes as much as 10% CPU usage, so this seems unlikely. It could also be something else entirely that I might have overlooked. This problem doesn't cause any major limitations in my ability to use the system, but it does put a significant dent in the overall experience. If I know where the problem is I can at least try to do something to correct it. Has anyone had similar problems with a different hardware/software configuration (perhaps we could narrow down where the problem might be), and/or know the cause? Any point in the right direction would be very much appreciated.
