Well, he said he was using FreeBSD, not Linux, so that
throws Kudzu out the window ;-)

I'd recommend using XFree86 -scanpci to figure out
what you've got (I just about guarantee that it's a
Millennium G400 or G400 MAX, unless it has a coaxial
TV-tuner port (like the ATi All-in-wonder series)).
XFree86 -configure should give you a working
configuration. If it's the multihead version, you'll
need Matrox's HALLib library, which can be downloaded
from their site under 'Linux drivers'. I'm not sure if
this'll work on FBSD, but I seem to remember reading
somewhere that the lib was OS-agnostic, it just
required an x86. If it's the MAX or the dual-headed
Millennium (all MAX cards were dual-headed, IIRC), it
has 32MB of RAM (DDR on the MAX, one of the first DDR
graphics cards, if not the first). The single-headed
Millennium can have 16MB or 32MB. (there might have
been a 16MB dual-head at one time, but that seems
pretty gimpy on side of other cards from the same
era...)

Check the status of the DRI4BSD project (not sure if
that was the exact name, but it was DRI for FreeBSD,
and I think NetBSD also). The G400 was the second card
supported by DRI, IIRC, so if DRI4BSD is useable, the
G400 should be in the list of supported cards (so
should the Rage 128, for that matter).

HTH,
Eric
