Recently I put together a new freebsd 4.6 system for my home
desktop that installed Xfree86 4.2.0 on it. I had noted that
the ATI Radeon cards were supposed to be supported so I purchased
one since it was the only really supported card carried by any
of the local computer sales stores near to my home.

Problem: Anytime I attempt to run mpegs, avis, or anything that
draws on extra video resources I end up with error messages that
are complaining of shared colormaps and having to make use of
private colormaps.

This produced an effect that if I highlight the streaming vid app
the color is crystal clear. If I remove the mouse from highlight
it goes into rather crap colors..

I've been searching for answers to this and thusfar have yet to
find any real answers. Anyone have any helpful suggestions?

X runs fine otherwise, I'd just like cleaner colors for my vid apps :)

Thanks.

Rob Andrews
