You seem to be mixing up X 3.3.6 (SVGA) and X 4.x.x (There the standard -regrettably 
non
accelerated- driver is vesa)
You stand a good chance of being even more amazed if you don't decide which version 
you are
running and take the relevant drivers for that version...
