[Newbie]S3 Virge GX (86C385) and a Newbie

Help!  I cannot get this card to work properly. I think it supposed to use the S3V server- but when the Xconfigurator (4.10.7) runs it says it is using XF86_SVGA. The whole process through Xconfigurator seems to go ok, but when the X starts, the display isn't right- crappy pixels everywhere and a black box attached to the mouse. How do I use a different X server?  I have added the S3V module and it is listed when I search the Xfree RPM's   Any help GREATLY appreciated!!   Regards, Derek
