Ringo,

I've had a look at the kernel config and there isn't a Frame-buffer support submenu.  
My kernel is 
linux-2.4.7-10BOOT.  Unfortunately I cannot upgrade, because I'm using a whole load of 
modules - to 
support different Ethernet cards - which were built for linux-2.4.7-10BOOT and have 
version checking 
enabled.
