Hello,

First, I want to thank you guys for making XFree and making my life
possible :)

Then I want my middle mouse button to work. I'm using a (what looks like
an old) serial mouse with three buttons. It works fine except the middle
button does not work in X. But it works in console. So it must, no it
*shall* work under X, too. gpm sais it's using the original Microsoft
protocol with a middle button extension, and seems to be working fine (at
least simple paste works). Changing the protocol to mousesystems or
something else does not help in X, it either works just the same,
completely insane or not at all. Does it help to use gpm as a repeater
for X? I'm not really sure what that does so I haven't tryed.

This is X -version:

> XFree86 Version 4.1.0 (Red Hat Linux release: 4.1.0-3)
> / X Window System
> (protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6510)
> Release Date: 2 June 2001
> If the server is older than 6-12 months, or if your card is
> newer than the above date, look for a newer version before
> reporting problems. (See http://www.XFree86.Org/FAQ)
> Build Operating System: Linux 2.4.7-0.13.1smp i686 [ELF]
> Build Host: stripples.devel.redhat.com
>
> Module Loader present

And this is the mouse section from /etc/X11/XF86Config-4:

> Section "InputDevice"
> Identifier "Mouse0"
> # Modified by mouseconfig
> # end then by myrkraverk
> Driver "mouse"
> Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
> Option "Protocol" "Microsoft"
> Option "Buttons" "3"
> Option "Emulate3Buttons" "yes"
> # Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
> # Option "Buttons" "5"
> EndSection

Both without the quoting stuff of course.

Thanx for whatever help I can get,

Johann
