Before upgrading both my Mac OS from 10.1 to 10.2 and my XFree86
server, I was able to do the following:

xhost +<remote-machine>
telnet <remote-machine>

on <remote-machine> I could do setenv DISPLAY <local-machine>
and then X11 windows would pop up on my local machine.

This seems to be broken now, though I can still do ssh -X (the
preferred method) to get X11 forwarding in most cases.

The problem is this: one of the machines I need X11 forwarding from is
an old DEC Alpha running Open VMS 7.3 . For whatever reason, it does
not support ssh logins, and probably will not for the near future. So,
I need to get X11 forwarding over telnet to work.

Any suggestions? I have already checked my firewall settings.
