Dear All,

I've installed FreeBSD 4.6.2 and XFree 4.2.0 on my PC with Intel's i810 chipset (or specifically the 82815 Graphis Controller).  I have created the '/dev/agpgart' device and added 'agp_load="YES"' to '/boot/loader.conf' according to the FreeBSD user manual.  I then run the test command:

XFree86 -xf86config /etc/X11/XF86Config

I got a white solid square at the centre of a black screen (instead of the X cursor on grey screen as described in the manual).  The configuration file was generated when FreeBSD was installed (through the xf86config utility).

I found the following warnings in the log file (/var/log/XFree86.0.log):

I810(0): xf86AllocateGARTMemory: allocation of 1024 pages failed (Cannot allocate memory)

Can someone give me any hint about this problem ?

I've found a couple of problems on Intel i810 in the archive but did not seem to solve my problem.

Thanks.

Damon Tam
