Maybe the DVI Port is not activated by the driver.
You should try "closed source" driver from Nidia.com, which you will
find as rpm or tgz file for a lot of different Linux Dristributions.
Feel free to use my XF86Conig file to startup your monitor, that comes
from 18,1 DVI screen
in front of me.
You should modify DotClock, matching to your Monitor specification.
