Cool.. Good information, everybody. Thanks for the info! I'm not terribly addicted yet (although I seem to spend about an hour a day in JOSM these days).
I'm thinking of going with a eTrex Venture HC or a Vista HXx. Has color, high sensitivity, decent tracking.
