Somebody on our list for Romania just reported that the trunk version is able to do osm->garmin without any intermediate polish format. Sorry if it is unclear, I have translated exactly as it was in the original text (I don't have a garmin unit, so it didn't matter that much to me). The city he was using is a Romanian city, Brasov. > am aplicat pe el osm2mp si a iesit fisierul brasov.map perl > osm2mp.pl brasov.osm > brasov.mp I applied on it (the city osm extract he was using) osm2mp and I got the brasov.map perl osm2mp.pl brasov.osm > brasov.mp > am folosit mkgmap ultima versiune, mai noua decat cea de pe wiki, > luata de la devel I used the last mkmap version, newer than the wiki version, grabbed from the devel > mkgmap-r904>java -jar mkgmap.jar --route map.mp --mapnamee=MapBV -- > country-name=Romania --country-abbr=ROU --region-abbr=BV --latin1 -- > net --gmapsupp That is the command line he used. Good luck. > I tried using mkgmap but ran into problems that way too (I forget the > details). > > 1) Am I doing it right? > 2) Can a Garmin map be built from OSM easily some other way > (preferably Linux, but Windows if I must)? > 3) Is there a free (as in speech) program equivalent to cgpsmapper > (specifically to go from Polish to Garmin)? > > Thanks for any tips. _______________________________________________ newbies mailing list [email protected] http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/newbies -- Regards, EddyP ============================================= "Imagination is more important than knowledge" A.Einstein
