I am having trouble generating a Garmin mapfile using mkgmap to go
straight from .osm to .img. I am using the daily country dump from
geofabrik.de for Cyprus.
I can successfully create a map using the osm data using osm2mp and
then mkgmap to generate an img from the .mp file.
I am not getting any error messages from mkgmap, it generates a
gmapsupp.img file of the same size, but when I open the map on my
etrex vista, there doesn't seem to be _anything_ there. I had been
testing this out before at home with a Garmin Nuvi, and that showed me
roads, but if I looked for POI's, there were none.
The command line I used is this:
java -Xmx1024M -jar ./bin/mkgmap/mkgmap.jar --latin1 --gmapsupp --route --net \
--code-page=1252 --country-name=CYPRUS --country-abbr=CYP --tdbfile \
--tdb-v4 ./tmp/cyprus.osm
