I've downloaded the trace you mentioned in the previous email and the message is correct. There are only 6 points in there with times against them. The file begins with a lot of waypoints where the date and time appears, but as text in the description field. It is then followed by a lot of trackpoints which have no date or time, and then in a section right at the end called ACTIVE LOG are 6 points with dates and times. > How to solve it? The gpx file needs timestamps adding. I'm sure I've read somewhere about utilities that support this. I've just tried downloading Viking http://sourceforge.net/projects/viking/ and already had EasyGPS. If EasyGPS can do it I can't see how. If you load the gpx file in either of Viking or EasyGPS it shows it contains three tracks (07-MAR-09, 08-MAR-09 and ACTIVE LOG) as well as the waypoints. You don't mention what GPS unit you are using. There is a blog post here: http://notions.okuda.ca/geotagging/selecting-a-gps/ about someone using an Etrex Legend who saved tracklogs to a storage location but that stripped the times. He added them back manually, which you probably don't want to do for 1000 points. I've tried Google for 'gpx "insert timestamps"' but only find some posts on this and talk list saying that inserting times is easy, but not how to do it. But you need to somehow restore the missing timestamps (they don't have to be accurate, but do need to be increasing - I would suggest still using the correct date as per the track names mentioned above).
