Yes. For a closed way/polygon/area/whatever you call it, the first and last node numbers should be the same, so first I just looked for the first node number near the end of the list. There were 4 more nodes listed afterwards and scrolling back to the top these were the same as at the top of the list, so the first 5 nodes were the same as the last 5. Finding the section of the polygon where the overlap was proved a little more tricky. That involved my clicking nodes (that were part of the way) at random in Potlatch and looking at the IDs until I found the right bit. I got lucky after about 3 or 4 (though was going in steps of 5 or so around the edge figuring I'd hit one of the duplicated nodes sooner or later).
