Here is my problem: I have edited a map (Lord Howe Island to be precise permalink: http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=-31.5467&lon=159.0684&zoom=13&layers=B000FTF) and I now want to get the map onto my Garmin Oregon 300 but, try as I might, I can get it there but I can't see it.
This is what I did: 1. Downloaded the map with JOSM. 2. Saved as a *.osm file. 3 Converted this to an *.img file using mkgmap. 4. Loaded the map onto MapSource using MapSetToolKit.exe. Having got to this point I can I can view it in MapSource and can upload it to my Oregon 300 and view it there provided it is the only map I have on the unit in gmapsupp.img. Lord Howe Island is a stunning place but it is only small (10 km end to end) and I would like to have more of the world available. No matter what I do, although I can combine this map with others and upload them, and can view other maps, I cannot see this one. I have tired combinig it with other maps using both MapSource and GMapTppl.exe with the same result. I have successfully tested this process with another island, not drawn by me which I can view when loaded with other maps so I know that it should work in principle. I have spent many hours on this and would appreiate any words of wisdom.
