Disabling autozoom and setting zoom level to a low enough value should help. Theres also a setting for max zoom level, but in my experience it changes spontaneously against my will. If you really need a high zoom level, you should perhaps disable autoload tiles and manually download only the tiles youre relay interested in.

Without slippymap I can load areas 20 miles square or more. With slippymap, I get an out of memory error at a square mile or less. Any advice would be appreciated.
