I'm on dialup and interested in a large geographical area (primarily continental United States (20N-45N 65W-130W). I only need,for now, a very small subset of the data - state/provincial/national borders and large bodies of water (eg Great Lakes, St. Lawrence Seaway/River).
I'd like to experiment with standard rendering software - If using JOSM I'd also need the latest JRE. For now my - obviously *MINIMAL* needs are satisfied by gnuplot and a simple TCL script.
