I've not used relations much, partly because I don't really understand them. I'm trying to improve my understanding of them, and use them where appropriate, which is one reason why I looked at the possibility of using one here. The fence was mapped carefully, and in the end I created a new way, re-using the nodes that made up the fence, so the playground border exactly follows the fence for that part where there is a fence. One disadvantage of doing it this way is that where there is fence, there are two ways exactly on top of each other, and it could make it difficult to select the one you want when editing in future. I suppose that's an issue for the editors to deal with, though.
