Hello,

I made a three-day hike and tagged all the features of my hike on
openstreetmap. Now I want to make a track of my walk which is exactly
matching the ways in openstreetmap along which I have been walking. So I
thought let's make an extra layer in josm (file/new) and copy/paste
these ways from the osm-map into a new layer and save it as an gpx-file.
But as soon as I made a new layer in josm, the ways in the layer with
the osm-map are no longer selectable anymore. I made sure that I have
selected/highlighted the osm-layer and point my mouse to a way, but the
way is not highlighted anymore.

Is this a bug or a feature ? Does anyone has a suggestion how I can
manage to copy ways from osm-map to a private layer ? The workaround I
found is not a real option. Before making a new layer I can select and
copy ways and paste them into a new layer. But it is quite difficult to
select tens or hundreds of ways without misclicking once in a while and
losing the whole selection again.
