Thanks, that's interesting.

But still seeing a difference between the two areas (copied and original)

A regular area shows up with red nodes. somehow the copied one (or
maybe the original, hard to tell which is whiche) seems to show up
with block lines around the red nodes. I'm used to seeing those lines
when a way joins another way, not in an enclosed area.

So, still a little mysterious. And what does the "Click to unlock" mean?
