First off, I'm generally a Potlatch user. I find JOSM less than intuitive in countless ways. But Potlatch isn't very usable at low zooms, and sometimes I want to edit some larger features and be able to see the big picture while I do so. That's when I tend to try to use JOSM.
At the moment, I'm finding the "feature" of making unreviewed-TIGER roads obvious (with a puke yellow highlight) extremely annoying. It slows down map display, and it makes the differences between different highway types much less obvious. And as far as I can tell, there's no way to turn this "feature" off or make it less intrusive! (It doesn't seem to be in the customizable paint styles.) I've found a possible workaround where I can change "tiger:reviewed=no" to some other value while I work, and change it back later. (Will JOSM then try to upload thousands of streets that are not really different from before?) This workaround is certainly not ideal and might cause new problems, so a way to turn this highlighting feature OFF will be very useful to me. -- David "Smith" a.k.a. Vid the Kid a.k.a.
