Hi, I'm new here and have been trying to learn. I thought I was at a stage where I could make some basic edits and so on. I made some tentative attempts and then thought I would wait and see if I was doing stuff correctly.
Well some have worked out just fine but others seem to have varying degrees of success. I was told that the maps are slow to update due to the work that is being concentrated on the Haitian crisis and if that is the case I have nothing to worry about .... but I'm wondering if the reason that my entries are not showing is because of something I have done wrong... or not done at all. Could someone possibly have a look at the following edits and confirm that the problems are not due to me. Please? I'm not game to do more in case I am just making work that someone else will have to fix up. I am very familiar with Moreton Bay and this island to the east of Dunwich on North Stradbroke Island is called Peel Island. It has a lot of history to do with the early days of Brisbane. It is marked on the Map as North Stradbroke Island. It shows up if I am zoomed out about 5 levels from the maximum zoom but when I go closer my corrections do not show. When I go in to the map editing programs (JOSM and Potlatch) my corrections are there. There is a suburb near where my Brother in law lives and the streets are not named on the map although some of the streets are there, not all of them are. I plan to use my GPS to trace the unmapped streets and name all of them but I thought I would get some practice first by naming some of the ones I am familiar with. They seem to be valid to me but they are not showing in the view map. I have been waiting, thinking that perhaps it is just the system is slow to update, but it has been a week now and I'm wondering if the fault is me and not the system. I would appreciate someone more experienced having a look for me and confirming that it is not my fault, or if it is, then letting me know so I can fix it and avoid someone else having to clean up after me.
