I'm going to assume you mean the map which appears at openstreetmap.org. (is this correct?) >> I mapped the jewish cemetery in our town and realized, that it is drawn with >> crosses. I searched for a possibility to change that, but didn't find a way. >> Then I looked for other jewish cemeteries and found them drawn in the same >> way - with crosses. >> This is absolutely impossible, and I want to ask for your help to change the >> tag for mapping jewish cemeteries. >> Thanks a lot for your help! The issue has come up before. It's not impossible, but it's also not trivial. What would need to happen is for someone to create a new icon that would be usable in the map. Some have suggested a generic headstone, for example. But if we rendered a Jewish cemetery differently- what symbol do you think would be most appropriate? A Magen David? To support that, the religion would need to specified. This could be done (it's not impossible at all), just like it's done for place of worship: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Religion The issue, again, is that there would need to be some work done to make the various icons, and well as change the renderer. I know at least one other person was working on a generic gravestone symbol. Do you think this is a good idea? - Serge >> Sincerely >> Marianne Gädtke > > Yours &c. > > Steve > > > _______________________________________________ > newbies mailing list > [email protected] > http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/newbies > _______________________________________________ newbies mailing list [email protected] http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/newbies
