Android is Linux under the hood too. It may be less open than Maemo but it's way more open than iPhone's walled garden. And don't count non-Android Linux phones out quite yet, the Moblin-Maemo merger brings Intel & Nokia together under the MeeGo label. For mapping, we'd only want to use real clear-sky GPS fix, after the AGPS assisted lock on the satellites. The cell-tower fix that is used for the A assist is available indoors makes usable for E911 approximate locations as well as usually a better initial approximation for the GPS's Kalman filter fix algorithm than last-seen-spot. -- Bill [email protected] [email protected] _______________________________________________ newbies mailing list [email protected] http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/newbies
