Two months ago I installed Redhat 8 on a Dell Latitude laptop in a dual-boot
configuration with Windows2000. Grub was working great as the boot loader until this
week.

Now when I boot the machine, instead of the GRUB graphical boot selector, I get a
simple "grub>" prompt.

Moreover, if I boot using a boot disk that I created at install, I get the following
error message:
"Kernel Panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel"

A superficial browsing of my partitions with PowerQuest VolumeManager doesn't turn up
any obvious problems, but I haven't managed to boot successfully to either Windows or
RedHat. How do I recover from this situation?

Scott Johnson
