I am attempting to set up my Linux machine running Debian as a print server.
I have a Lexmark 1020 Color Jetprinter. I am using LPD-O-Matic, and I have
downloaded and installed foomatic, the lpdomatic perl script, the af file
for the printer (the .foo file), and the printer drivers, all from the
http://www.linuxprinting.org Web site. I have configured my /etc/princap
file, and all the scripts seem to be running okay (no errors in the error
log, and I watch all the processes run in top), but the printer (on lp0)
doesn't respond at all. In fact it doesn't do anything when I run cat "1" >
/dev/lp0 or when I try the maintenance programs that came with the drivers
(the ones that simply move the carriage back and forth). Any ideas?

Thanks,

Casey
