I already had winxp and I upgraded to rh9 after backing up all my personal files in rh8, but the boot loaders are looking on hd0 for winxp which is really on hd5. I tried booting from rh9 cdrom #1 to change the boot loader config, but didn't install anything new so it said that it didn't change my boot loader because the kernel did not change. How can I change the boot loader settings without changing kernels? Can I run a command from linux or do I have to boot from the cd?

I want to set up my computer to be a http server with apache and so I can learn more about that and also teach myself php. Could anyone give me a pointer on where to go (web docs) where it has instructions for beginners that don't need anything fancy?

How can I set it up to be a ftp server?

I'm concerned that since my roomate's winxp box serves a cable modem internet connection to the apt that outside people might not be able to get a connection through his (Norton) firewall. Is that an issue or how does that work?

Is there a command to ask the dhcp server for a new ip address? How can I find out my computer's ip address. If I'm not plugged into the network at bootup it says that init of eth0 failed. What command can I used to initialize it and get an ip address for internet connections or do I have to reboot?

Thanks for your help and support
