I recently installed Red Hat 9 and can't get my dial-up modem to work. Apparently it will communicate with the modem but won't initialize. I
have a Toshiba Satellite laptop and I don't think that it is a WinModem. Can anyone help me?
Most of what you need to do you can do yourself. Check out linmodems.org. You can find out exactly what the card is with 'lspci' or 'ls /proc/pci'. Your card show up in the output of those commands somewhere. If you need help send the output to the list.
Many winmodems are supported now, but not all (including the one on my laptop, I think).
