I think he maintains an apt repository for 7.3 and 8. Your problem certainly sounds like a hardware issue to me. Either an irq conflict, bad memory, or some other failing component. It could also be a CPU temperature thing too. Linux is stable, and any time there is an unstable linux box, it's bad or failing hardware (or hardware that has quirks that redhat hasn't seen before). To check memory, I recommend running memtest86 (www.memtest86.com). Fire it up and let it run all night. If you have bad memory in the area where the kernel sits, that could definitely cause random panics. I had bad memory once, but it was up towards the high end of the address space, so I never had a system crash, but compiling large programs would core dump randomly. Perhaps others can suggest other hardware tests. It might also be good to post your hardware specifics. Sometimes there are issues with a particular processor or memory setup. My guess is if redhat 9 is panicking, then redhat 8 and 7.3 will too, since they all use the same kernel (at least if you install all the eratta).
