Hmm, no trouble with OO.o Draw here. I had troubles with StarOffice 5.2 once though. I'd recommend Draw. (I'm no graphics artist either though). I've also heard good thinks about Skencil (formerly Sketch) <http://sketch.sourceforge.net/>.
