I'm having some install problems on my new system.
I'm trying to install KnoppMyth (a variant of Knoppix
that is based on Debian, as I understand it), and I
get an error that says: "hde: lost interrupt" when I
try to install. I've had Windows XP running on the
same setup, but I'm not very well versed in Linux to
figure out what the problem may be. Here are a few of
my specs:

AMD Athlon XP processor
Gigabyte K7NNXP motherboard
IDE Primary channel: empty (is this okay??)
IDE Secondary: 16x DVD-ROM
SATA Primary: 160GB Serial ATA HDD (it is connected
to serial power, not legacy power, although it has
both connectors... it says to only connect to one
connector, but maybe linux is confused that the legacy
power is unplugged.

Again, it works great in Windows XP, but it won't
install linux. When I let it sit for a while (and it
does take a long while), it correctly identifies my
hard drive, but it continues getting the hde: lost
interrupt error when I try to install it to that disk.
Ideally, I'd like to partition the drive to have a
Linux partition and a smaller Win XP partition, but
I'm willing to experiment with just Linux to start
with.

My best guesses so far are to disconnect serial power
from the power supply and use a legacy connector (the
one that looks the same as for an IDE drive) or to
tweak with something in the BIOS. When I installed
Win XP, I had to create a floppy disk with some
drivers in order for it to recognize a Serial ATA HDD.
Would I have to do something similar in Linux?

Thanks in advance for your help.
