Hello All! We're gearing up for our next installfest on September 11, so now it's time to prepare for our next "Don't Fear the Penguin" meeting. This is a great chance for those of you who have always wanted to give a presentation at a UUG meeting, but didn't think you were good enough. So, I need some volunteers for some of these presentations (please email off list). You can either A) volunteer yourself or B) volunteer a friend (please provide their email address so that I can contact them and make sure that they're ok with the idea).
Here are the topics that I still need volunteers for: Applications -- about 5-10 minutes (total) to show various applications that replace popular windows applications (ooffice, gaim, xmms, gimp, etc) Editors -- about 5-10 minutes to show (very briefly) the basics of a couple of editors. Please focus primarily on nano/pico, and touch only _briefly_ on vim/emacs... Getting Stuff Set Up (hardware?) -- (5-10 minutes) since ethernet will be set up for people at the installfest, we were thinking of focusing primarily on getting wireless set up. if there's anything else you can think of that would be necessary, please let me know! Installation -- (5-10 minutes...) just needs to cover the basics of installing from rpm, installing from source, and from apt and/or yum. Cover dependencies only in the sense that apt/yum deals with those issuese automatically. I already have volunteers (unless something has changed) for: Command-Line Basics Desktops (KDE and Gnome) If you would like to request another topic and/or present on another topic, email me and I'll make a decision regarding that. Thanks a lot! ~Erin Sharmahd -- -- userfriendly.org -- _______________________________________________ newbies mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://phantom.byu.edu/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/newbies
