Put an & after gkrellm in your .bash_profile.  That's still probably
not the best way to do it though, as there are other times when your
.bash_profile could be sourced and you won't want another copy of
gkrellm started.

The only way I've found to do this (without spending any time on it)
is leave the programs open when you logout, and then make sure and
select the save this session option before clicking ok to finish
logging out.  Unfortunately, this doesn't work for all programs.
