Two years ago on the UUG: "All I did was uninstall Python, and my
computer doesn't work anymore. What happened?" This poor soul soon
learned that the Gentoo package manager is written in the Python
programming language.
On September 7, we will talk about the Python programming language,
which is heavily used in well-known organizations such as Google, Red
Hat, Industrial Light & Magic, and NASA. Many major open-source
projects are written in Python, including Bittorrent, Yum, Django,
Gramps, and Bazaar.
In our meeting, we will give a brief introduction to the language and
show why many of us find Python to be so expressive, simple, and fun.
We will give motivation for using Python in system administration, web
development, and other areas. If you're getting tired of programming
and want to start having fun again, Python might be just the thing for
you.
