Hey, I have Ubuntu and on BYU campus I can connect to the network
byuc0ug4rs, it says the strength is high etc. and its all good. But if I
try to open Firefox, it always gives me a "cannot find server" error instead
of redirecting me to the authentication page (where you put in your NetID
and password) like it does in Windows. I have tried going manually to the
authentication page ( http://connect.app.byu.edu, I believe) but it gives me
the same error message. Any ideas? Thanks

The network setup app in Ubuntu usually works fairly well, but for a
more long term solution, I would do some research on `iwconfig` and
`cardctl`. I don't remember super clearly as it's been almost a year
since I last configured it.

A good website to get your head wrapped the configuration I used is at:

You are looking for the information about "wireless auto". I never
used the actual wireless auto script itself, as I preferred to pick
which network I wanted to connect to. However, the information about
the cardctl schemes was invaluable.

Good luck,
Alex
