When: Thursday, November 15th at 7:30pm Where: Crabtree, room 340 (the usual place)
Our next meeting is this Thursday, where Andrew McNabb will be presenting on: "A Git's Perspective on Revision Control Version control is essential for both independent development and team projects. "My program worked until I made a tiny little change. Can you pass me off anyway?" "Is there any way to undelete my files? I meant to delete *.bak but accidentally deleted *." "My lab partner just broke our program. What did he change?" Life is so much simpler when you use a revision control system. Learn about the differences between centralized version control systems (e.g., CVS and Subversion) and distributed systems (e.g., Git and Mercurial). Then learn how to choose Git for all your version control needs. The meeting will include a practical tutorial on how to use Git, much of which will also apply to Subversion." If you've never thought about using revision control, you are required to come to this meeting. If you have thought about using revision control, now is your chance to get started (you are required to come). If you already use version control, you are also required to come. Seriously, it'll be a great presentation! Come at 7:00 if you need in-person help with your computer or if you'd like to help someone needing in-person help with his/her computer. -Peter -------------------- BYU Unix Users Group http://uug.byu.edu/ The opinions expressed in this message are the responsibility of their author.
