Ciao Stefano +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Newsletter Autistici-Inventati 4 giugno 2006 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ENGLISH VERSION AT THE BOTTOM +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Anche se nell'ultimo periodo sulle macchine della rete Autistici/Inventati ha imperversato un'ondata di sfiga nera che ha causato molti malfunzionamenti in tutti i servizi A/I, dalle mailbox ai siti alle mailing list, con questa newsletter vogliamo annunciarvi soprattutto delle buone novita': ++ NUOVO SITO ++ I RISVOLTI DI UN PERIODO NERO. LA PRIMAVERA ++ CAMPAGNA DI AUTOFINANZIAMENTO ++ NUOVO SITO Da oggi il sito di Autistici/Inventati cambia faccia e cambia anche struttura: negli ultimi mesi lo abbiamo ripensato per renderlo un po' piu' accessibile e piu' intuitivo. Abbiamo anche inserito alcuni nuovi manuali e rinnovato completamente alcune sezioni. Piu' che stare qui a descriverlo, vi invitiamo a navigarlo, a scoprirlo e, naturalmente, a mandarci tutti i commenti che ritenete opportuno fare: i complimenti sono bene accetti e le critiche, come al solito, non possono che farci migliorare. Alcune pagine, soprattutto in inglese, mancano ancora e per questo vi chiediamo di darci una mano: se ritenete di poter contribuire alla traduzione delle pagine italiane in inglese, stiamo formando un gruppo di traduzione per inserire le pagine mancanti al piu' presto possibile: se potete aiutarci, scrivete sul forum di AutoAiuto http://forum.autistici.org ++ I RISVOLTI DI UN PERIODO NERO. LA PRIMAVERA Come probabilmente vi siete accorti, negli ultimi mesi la rete di Autistici-Inventati ha dovuto sopportare un'ondata di sfighe tecnologiche. Ma per cercare i lati positivi, possiamo notare che fino a un anno fa le disgrazie che si sono avvicendate in quasi tutte le macchine della rete Autistici/Inventati avrebbe colpito tutt* gli utenti del server A/I, mentre per fortuna questa volta i danni sono stati subiti a turno, da quel terzo di malcapitati che si trovava il servizio ospitato sulla macchina afflitta dal problema del giorno. Noi abbiamo dedicato tutte le nostre (scarse) energie a risanare il guaio, ma in alcuni casi non passavano 24 ore che gia' succedeva qualche altro incidente. Il tutto non è stato dovuto a un guasto nella rete, che per fortuna ha continuato a garantire la continuita' dei servizi a molti altri utenti, ma a diversi problemi di hardware, legati principalmente all'eta' delle nostre macchine, ipersfruttate e assemblate il meglio possibile per quanto ci concedevano le nostre risorse. Ora pare che finalmente tutto sia ritornato alla normalita', e stiamo inserendo nella rete diverse macchine nuove che dovrebbero prevenire altri incidenti tanto incresciosi (scongiuri). E questo in realta' dipendera' tanto da come andranno le sottoscrizioni quest'anno. ++ CAMPAGNA DI AUTOFINANZIAMENTO Ora che va tutto meglio e che potete godervi il sito nuovo, vorremmo concludere dicendo che lo sforzo implicato da quest'ultimo aggiornamento della struttura di A/I, di ordine personale ma anche economico, e' stato notevole e che per questo stiamo per dare inizio a una campagna di autofinanziamento: vi chiediamo di sostenerci seguendo i prossimi annunci e partecipando alla campagna con una sottoscrizione, anche minima. Call it psychology! :) ++ NEW WEBSITE ++ THE BACKEDGE OF A DARK SEASON: SPRINGTIME ++ FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN 2006 ++ NEW WEBSITE From today on, the Autistici/Inventati website has a brand new look and a brave new structure: in the last months we have rethought it thoroughly to make it more accessible and easier to understand. We have spliced in a couple of new howtos and rewritten some sections of it from scratch. More than having us trying to describe how it looks to you, we invite you to browse towards it, discover it and comment on it: compliments are welcome and of course criticism can only make it better. The site is still missing some pages (especially in the english section) and we would welcome any help on that: if you think you can help with translations we are forming a small working group to accomplish them as soon as possible where they are missing. Write on the self-aid forum: http://forum.autistici.org ++ THE BACKEDGE OF A DARK SEASON: SPRINGTIME As you probably noticed, in the last months the Autistici/Inventati network has had to endure a storm of technological misfortunes. To be optimistic we can say that at least the problems hit only one third of the users at a time, instead of hitting them all as would have been the case last year :) Call it good luck! We have dedicated our (few) energies to fix the problem but in some cases we would not pass 24 hours before seeing something else go wrong. All of this has not been caused by the network structure which has demonstrated to be able to guarantee part of the communication flow, but to a series of hardware problems, mainly connected to the dated nature of some servers and to their state of overworking. Now it seems eventually back to normality and we are joining to the network more servers that should help us prevent further problems (being Italian we invite you to touch wood, iron, and other items or body parts you see fit at shooing away bad karma!). This of course will depend highly on how our fund-raising campaing will work this year. ++ FUND-RAISING CAMPAIGN Now that everything is better and that you can enjoy the new site, we would like to conclude this newsletter by telling you how much the effort we are making in updating the network structure is costing us in terms of money, but in terms of people committment and personal energies as well.
