VOJISLAV KOSTUNICA CARRIES OUT CONSULTATIONS
WITH MILITARY LEADERS OF FEDERAL REPUBLIC OFYUGOSLAVIA.
VOJISLAV SESEL APPEALS FOR MILITARY OVERTURN
Last weekend Yugoslavian President Vojislav Kostunica had consultations
with military leaders of the country. Although no
details of the meeting have been imparted, it is known the main subject
of the negotiations to be guaranteeing stability and
security in the country. In present days situation President Kostunica
needs to enlist support of the army, which has a great
influence on society and which is the only federal structure supporting
the President (the Republics militia is being controlled
by Serbian Prime-Minister Zoran Djindjic).
As is well known, General Staff of Yugoslavian army has calmly
apprehended the information about Milosevics extradition.
Shortly after appearing this information, the General Staff announced
not to have any relation to this action. Milosevic was
brought by a helicopter of Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs to the
US base in Bosnia
As for recent events, connected with Slobodan Milosevics extradition,
further behaviour of Yugoslavian army excite some
observers apprehension. It has been really a precedent. Earlier or
later, the others will follow Milosevic. Many generals and
colonels could be included in black list of Hague tribunal for
supposedly committed military crimes.
According to Zoran Djindjic, in future Belgrad will also oppose against
war criminals searched by International Tribunal and
extradite them to Hague. Such trials are already being prepared in
Serbia, so the world will be aware very soon of new
names of war criminals, which will be extradite to Hague.
Serbian Radical Party head Vojislav Sesel announced on one of the
meetings in Belgrad entailed by Milosevics extradition,
Yugoslavian military leaders must hinder from further spreading this
practise and - for these aims the army must take the
reins of government. Now there is a suitable moment (which might not
appear again): people are revolted, shocked, and the
armys activities could be supported. At the same time, Yugoslavian
ruling coalitions reputation could not avoid ruining, taking
into account recent events
So, is this military overturn Sensel appeals for really possible? Though
it has been just a rhetorical question. All the military
overturns happen suddenly.
