Russian Communist Chief Sends Message of Support to Milosevic
MOSCOW, Jul 5, 2001 -- (Agence France Presse) Russia's Communist leader
Gennady Zyuganov sent a message of support Wednesday to "political
prisoner" Slobodan Milosevic and assured him that "hundreds of
thousands" of people here stood behind the jailed former Yugoslav
leader. "In the name of hundreds of thousands of Russian Communists, I
send you a message of solidarity and support," Zyuganov wrote in a
telegram sent to the UN detention unit in The Hague, to which Milosevic
was extradited Thursday. "We view this so-called extradition to The
Hague as an abduction, as a harsh infringement of human rights, as a
crime," Zyuganov wrote in the telegram, a copy of which was obtained by
AFP. Zyuganov also wished Milosevic "strong will and confidence in the
righteousness of your cause." .....
