A Serbian civilian was killed and another seriously injured when a cluster bomblet exploded Wednesday in southern Serbia, the government press center in Bujanovac said in a statement. The bomblet, which exploded in the village of Bogdanovac, had remained undetected since the NATO aerial campaign against Yugoslavia in 1999.
The man who died was identified as Goran Milanovic, 30, and the injured as Ljubisa Taskovic, 23.
NATO dropped cluster bombs, which contain hundreds of
deadly bomblets, mostly in Kosovo and southern Serbia and, on at least two occasions, in Nis, Yugoslavia's third-largest city. A man was killed in the city early last year when he struck a bomblet while digging in his garden.
