IT IS ALBANIAN TERRORISTS, NOT SLOBODAN MILOSEVIC, WHO THREATEN BALKANS
-- MACEDONIA'S AMBASSADOR

The main threat to the Balkans today is posed not by former Yugoslav
President Slobodan Milosevic, but by Albanian terrorists and their
leader Hasim Taqi, said Macedonian Ambassador to Russia Dimitar Dimitrov
at a press conference in Moscow Wednesday.

Dimitrov noted that the departure of Milosevic from the political arena
after the elections in Yugoslavia has played a positive role in the
Balkan stabilisation. At the same time, the extradition of Milosevic to
the Hague War Crimes Tribunal has created a threat to the position of
the incumbent President of Yugoslavia, Vojislav Kostunica, and Prime
Minister of Serbia Zoran Djindjic. Dimitar Dimitrov stressed that the
extradition of Milosevic has touched off interior discord in Yugoslavia,
which is fraught with negative consequences.

At the same time, the ambassador of Macedonia to Russia remarked that
Albanian leader Hasim Taqi is a real political force in the Balkans and
that he poses a threat to regional stability.
