THE HOLY SYNOD OF BISHOPS
OF THE SERBIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH

Message to Serbians from Kosovo and Metohija Wherever They Live
Presently

At their meeting of 24 August 2001, the Holy Synod of Bishops of the
Serbian Orthodox Church devoted substantial time to problems facing the
Commissariat for Refugees of the Republic of Serbia regarding the
registration of displaced persons from Kosovo and Metohija, as well as
for those who remain and live there.

Taking into consideration everything surrounding this process, the Holy
Synod of Bishops supports the previous appeal of His Holiness Serbian
Patriarch Kyr Pavle and invites all the faithful children of the Serbian
Orthodox Church and all those forced to abandon their homes and
homeland, as well as those who remain in Kosovo and Metohija, for their
own good, the good of their children and fatherland, to respond to this
registration so that the aforementioned Commissariat for Refugees of the
Republic of Serbia, with accuracy concerning the exact number of
expellees, may show and prove to the world that Kosovo is in all of our
hearts, especially for those whose roots and graves are in Kosovo and
Metohija.

Therefore, we paternally invite you to respond to this registration and
not to allow fear, distrust and distrustful rumors, to halt this
process, which would consequentially make it more difficult to prove the
right of Orthodox Serbs, together with other faith and ethnic
communities, to live in Kosovo and Metohija, the native soil of their
ancestors.
