Dear All,

I just got a letter from George Bogdanich, the author of
the award winning documentary 'Yugoslavia: The Avoidable
War.' In short, he has a lot of good news, and some bad news, with which
he needs our help. The good news is that he now has a distributor who
helps with the marketing of the film, and who has arranged for the
screenings around the globe, including the Canadian History Channel,
Harvard, Berkeley, French and Israeli cable television, etc. They are
now making a strong effort to arrange broadcast in the US, Germany,
Japan and the UK. As put by Ed Herman (co-author with Noam Chomsky of
'Manufacturing Consent'), "as the film shows that the mainstream media
played a key role in disseminating propaganda and helping mobilize for
war, their willingness to allow this film to enter into the national
debate on the Balkan wars will be a good test of their integrity - and
of the effectiveness of U.S. democracy." For more information about the
achievements, you can visit their website at: www.avoidablewar.com.

The bad news is that he still has debt in the amount of $10,000, in the
form of bills coming in for the remaining cost of copyrighted news
footage, studio costs and a German film crew. In his own words, "it took
five years of effort and every last financial resource to produce the
.... documentary which challenges Western policies that helped spark and
prolong the war in the former Yugoslavia."

I got this letter because I have sent contributions on
several occasions. I will send one more now as well. I am
thinking: we are extremely lucky that, a small nation as
we are, we have a person with enough skill and talent to
make documentaries, with capability for a brilliant analysis, with
willingness to take a huge risk, and with enough love for his people and
for the truth. The least I can do is help him out.

Quoting from the letter:
"There are two ways you can help:

1. Make a TAX-DEDUCTIBLE contribution to Frontier Theatre and Film Inc
for whatever you can afford, whether it is $100, $500 or $1,000, or

2. Purchase 3, 5 or as many videos as you can at $39.95 a piece, which
you can distribute to persons of influence (newspaper and television
editors, foreign policy groups, educators) or donate to libraries and
schools for their permanent collections. And, with the holidays coming,
the video makes an excellent gift.

Both contributions and purchase orders can be sent to Frontier Theatre
and Film Inc, P.O. Box 869, New York, NY 10021, which is a non-profit
501(c)3 organization. By acting today you will enable us to change
policies toward the region and to seriously challenge the way history is
now being written about the events of the last ten years in Yugoslavia."
