Dead
Babies and Baby Killers
Witness
K41: “The people who were in the houses were expelled. They were forced out into
the yard…There was a gun placed to each of their heads…I think there were about
15 people there. There were women there too, children. I remember at least one
child that I saw…”
Prosecutor
Dirk Rynevald: “Were there any babies? …”
Witness
K41: “Yes…There was at least one baby. It might have been---well, not even a
year old. A soldier checked to see if they had any money. The rest of the
soldiers started to leave the yard, and the four of us, or five of us, remained.
And our sergeant, Sergeant Kozlina, ordered us to shoot the people who were in
the yard. The people who were shot at began falling down one across the other,
one over the other, and what I remember most vividly is how---I remember this
very vividly. There was a baby, and it had been shot with three bullets, and it
was screaming unbelievably loud….
Never a night goes by without my dreaming about that child.”
