Russian Ministry for Foreign Affairs Advises Russian Citizens to Leave Iraq
MOSCOW, April 13. The Russian Ministry for Foreign Affairs has recommended that Russian citizens do not travel to Iraq as the result of the rapidly worsening situation in the country, and has advised all those already there to leave at once. As reported by a Rosbalt correspondent, the announcement was made by the ministry's press service.
At the same time, the Ministry for Emergencies and the Foreign Ministry have jointly made necessary arrangements for the evacuation of Russian citizens from Iraq. In particular, the logistics of Russian flights to Baghdad have been worked out, as well as the safe transport of Russian citizens to the Baghdad airport or to neighboring countries.
The head of the company Technopromexport, Sergei Molozhavii, a
specialist working in Iraq, said today in an interview with the radio station
Mayak: 'We have already been evacuated from Iraq twice. Apparently, a
third evacuation awaits us. We always have plans that take into account such
situations. We have two options - by land and by air. At the moment, we are
considering them, but the main thing is to bring people safely to the necessary
locations. I think that everyone will be evacuated, especially since there is a
directive by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. And I, as a manager, cannot
envision who in such circumstances can take upon himself the responsibility for
people's lives, and to leave them there under such conditions. But, of course,
we are all planning to return once the situation normalizes itself.'
